ARM Hosts Third Annual National Member Meeting
November 5-7, 2019: With more than 230 registrants, the 2019 ARM Member Meeting was ARM’s largest event to date! Representatives from ARM’s 200+ member organizations gathered in Pittsburgh for 2.5 days of networking, collaboration, and knowledge-sharing. Post-event materials, including all presentations and our attendee list, are available to members-only in the ARM Member Community under the Member Meeting tab. Questions can also be directed to [email protected].
The event included keynote presentations from Lloyd Wood (Deputy Assistant Secretary for Textiles, Consumer Goods, and Materials U.S. Department of Commerce International Trade Administration) and Bob Doyle (Vice President RIA). Other guest presenters included representatives from the RAND Corporation exploring a joint study between RAND and ARM on the effects of automation on jobs and a presentation from a venture capital firm.
New for 2019 was a reverse pitch from ARM Members Spirit Aerosystems and DMI Companies whose representatives outlined the issues that limit their manufacturing potential. Also new for 2019 was our Member Showcase area where ARM Members showed off their capabilities through a mini exhibit hall.
During the Meeting, ARM debuted its new ARM Exchange component in the ARM Member Community and an overall refreshed design for the Community. The ARM Exchange is a central place for ARM Members to share their knowledge and expertise through Innovation Briefs, Use Cases, and other pieces of research and information. Also introduced was the new ARM Projects component of the Community where ARM Members can receive regular updates about active projects and can request access to the outputs from the completed projects.
This year also included a robust networking reception at our new headquarters – Mill 19 in Pittsburgh. Attendees were able to explore active projects in our HQ’s high bay and connect with project teams through their project posters lining the highbay.
Thank you to the ARM Members who attended our meeting!
