National robotics consortium adds 25 members in less than 3 months
October 29, 2020 – PITTSBURGH, PA – The Advanced Robotics for Manufacturing (ARM) Institute reports that national membership has exceeded 275 organizations, with 25 new members added in the past 2.5 months. ARM is the nation’s leading collaborative in robotics and workforce innovation, working at the confluence of industry, government, and academia. Structured as a public-private partnership, ARM and its member organizations catalyze robotic technologies and education solutions to strengthen the U.S. industrial base, protect our warfighters, and secure U.S. manufacturing resiliency.
New member organizations include Drexel University, MIT Lincoln Laboratory, National Institute of Metalworking Skills (NIMS), the University of Memphis, and FerRobotics.
Additionally, the ARM Institute saw a 52% increase in registration at their annual member meeting, held virtually in mid-October. This three day event featured 58 sessions covering topics such as COVID-19 remediation project updates, women in manufacturing, the use of machine learning and artificial intelligence in various manufacturing processes, and the importance of robotic career pathways for government and industry. Keynote presentations were offered by Mr. Robert Gold, Director, Technology and Manufacturing Industrial Base, Office of the Under Secretary of Defense Research and Engineering, and Mr. Alex Shikany, Vice President, Membership & Business Intelligence, Association for Advancing Automation. All presentations are available to ARM members on the ARM Member Community website.
“It is invigorating to witness the robotics consortium we started over three years ago continue to grow and advance key robotics, AI and workforce needs in support of U.S. manufacturing, especially in today’s challenging times,” stated Ira Moskowitz, ARM CEO. “We thank our consortium members for their continued commitment to our mission and invite others to join us.”
