Advanced Robotics for Manufacturing (ARM) Announces Arnie Kravitz as Chief Technology Officer
Current Interim CTO Burak Ozdoganlar to become ARM Chief Scientist
PITTSBURGH, PA – October 29, 2018 – Advanced Robotics for Manufacturing (ARM) today announced that Arnie Kravitz has joined the organization as Chief Technology Officer (CTO). In this role, Mr. Kravitz will drive ARM’s technical vision to help the organization fulfill its mission of increasing U.S. global competitiveness by accelerating innovative technologies that make robots more accessible to U.S. manufacturers.
As CTO, Mr. Kravitz will achieve this goal in part by convening experts and stakeholders from among the organization’s 170 industrial and academic members, including ARM’s Technical Advisory Committee, as well as government partners. He will be part of the leadership team reporting to ARM’s CEO.
Burak Ozdoganlar, currently interim CTO, will remain on the ARM team as Chief Scientist.
Mr. Kravitz’s passion is technology and working with inspired teams. He has spent over 37 years designing, developing, and manufacturing a large portfolio of products ranging from aquatic robots that clean up harbors and ponds, autonomous vehicles, robotic, augmented, and virtual reality vision systems, large and small satellite systems, acoustic and radar imaging systems, advanced mesh mobile radio frequency communications systems, self-learning inference engine-based systems, commercial consumer electronics, and cryptographic devices. He has taught as an Adjunct Professor at The Johns Hopkins University and has significant experience exploiting emerging tools and techniques to rapidly transform new ideas into manufactured products.
During his career, he has been involved with the start-up, spin-out, private equity and venture capital world. He has earned numerous patents and technical awards in the fields of renewable energy, imaging systems, covert radar imaging and communications systems, airborne surveillance and electronic countermeasure systems. He was nominated to the Air Force Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) and is the recipient of a Defense Innovation Technology Acceleration Challenge (DITAC) award. Mr. Kravitz’s corporate roles include President and CEO, COO, CTO, Vice President of Engineering, Vice President of Advanced Technology, Vice President of Marketing and Sales, Vice President of Commercial Business, and Chief Engineer of major Fortune 50 Defense Primes – small and large, consumer electronics companies, technology start-ups and spin-outs.
Mr. Kravitz holds a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

ARM members can anticipate meeting Arnie, as well as Burak and ARM’s new Deputy Chief of Technology Development, Chuck Brandt, at the Annual Member Meeting being held Nov. 5-7 in Pittsburgh, PA. This meeting, open only to ARM members, acts as the cornerstone event for the organization with project updates, networking and project-teaming activities, and concurrent Technology and Education/Workforce Development specific sessions.
