Our nation is at a critical inflection point with artificial intelligence (AI). The ARM Institute stands ready to help lead the charge.
Our team recently participated in the Inaugural Pennsylvania Energy and Innovation Summit held at ARM Member Carnegie Mellon University. This Summit convened leading AI experts across all fields for a full day of panels and discussions that explored the actions needed to ensure not just Pennsylvania’s readiness to lead AI efforts, but the nation’s readiness to compete as well.
The ARM Institute was part of a select group of organizations invited to showcase our capabilities in an exhibit hall and Jorgen Pedersen, ARM Institute, CEO was part of a small group of individuals invited to participate in the full summit. Our team spent the day forging new connections, strengthening existing partnerships, and learning how we can further help the nation establish dominance in AI.
One of our key takeaways from the day was that the US is well-positioned to lead the charge when it comes to AI innovation, but this leadership can only happen through concentrated collaboration across industry, government, and academia. This is exactly the collaboration that the ARM Institute catalyzes in AI, robotics, and workforce development to secure a brighter, more resilient future for US manufacturing.
Additionally, workforce development remains as important as technological advancements in AI. As AI reshapes manufacturing tasks, it also changes the skills needed for manufacturing careers. The ARM Institute is at the forefront of preparing existing workers, students, and training providers for these changes. This past spring, we convened a group of the nation’s leading experts in AI, robotics, and manufacturing to define the skills and competencies needed for these roles. The outputs from this working group informed our new AI competency framework that Members will learn more about at our Annual Member Meeting. This framework will feed into forthcoming new features on RoboticsCareer.org, just as our robotics competency framework guides any jobs or training programs posted on the platform.
AI isn’t a new area for the ARM Institute. We’ve catalyzed hundreds of AI and robotics innovations since 2017, but now that the rest of the nation understands the potential of AI, we stand ready to further this impact with our 450+ member organization consortium.
