Membership

The ARM Institute convenes the nation’s largest collaborative dedicated to advancing and strengthening US manufacturing through robotics, physical AI, and workforce innovation. With 500+ member organizations and thousands of individual subject matter experts, the ARM Institute facilitates unique collaboration between organizations that are otherwise considered competitors. From internationally recognized companies and universities to innovative start-ups and community colleges, we convene stakeholders across manufacturing to solve problems and secure the future of U.S. manufacturing.

ARM Institute Membership is at the organizational level and Members enjoy benefits that include: participation in ARM Institute-funded projects and special access to project outputs, access to our digital Member Community, participation in member-exclusive events, webinars, and workshops, including our Annual Member Meeting, and more.

Technology Advancement Programs

ARM Institute Technology Advancement Programs work to accelerate the use of robotics and physical AI, also called AI-enabled robotics, for the benefit of our nation. We do this by funding projects proposed by collaborative project teams from our membership and pursuing large-scale initiatives that transform manufacturing operations and lower the barriers for manufacturers of all sizes to implement automation solutions.

Through ARM Institute Projects, we work across project teams and industry stakeholders, including Department of War (DoW) experts, to ensure project success. We use our consortium of experts and government stakeholders to identify areas of need, craft Project Calls that address these needs, and catalyze the most impactful solutions proposed by project teams comprised of several ARM Institute Members. Awarded project teams then work directly with an ARM Institute Program Manager. Only ARM Institute Members can work on our projects. ARM Institute Project Calls may also be directed – a type of Project Call where we work with an individual organization to craft a Project Call and solicit the ARM Member Consortium for solutions. ARM Members then receive access to the outputs of these projects through consortium-developed intellectual property (CDIP).

Through ARM Institute Technology Initiatives, we collaborate with our consortium to build large-scale resources that address prevalent areas of need. This may include developing roadmaps and other resources.

Workforce Advancement Programs

The ARM Institute grows our nation’s manufacturing workforce and prepares existing workers for the changes necessitated by the use of robotics, automation, and AI. We do this by identifying large-scale workforce advancement initiatives that support the full ecosystem needed to realize the benefits of robotics and AI in manufacturing and collaborating with our Members both to identify these needs and to execute on these priorities.

Our premier workforce advancement program is RoboticsCareer.org. This platform has connected hundreds of thousands of individuals to manufacturing careers and works to address the manufacturing workforce gap by:

  • Identifying the skills and competencies needed for manufacturing careers through our competency frameworks developed in partnership with our member consortium and giving equal voice to the need of manufacturers, education providers, and government stakeholders.
  • Personally matching job seekers with jobs and training seekers with educational programs that meet their goals
  • Demystifying career pathways in manufacturing
  • Connecting manufacturers connect to qualified talent through our free, national talent database and by listing jobs on our platform
  • Helping training program providers connect to prospective students and evaluate the effectiveness of their programs through our Endorsement Program

Automation Services

Through the ARM Institute’s Automation Services, we work with individual manufacturers, military manufacturing sites, and others to objectively evaluate how robotics, automation, and AI can (and, equally importantly) cannot strengthen your operations. We do this both by assessing technology readiness and workforce readiness for automation. Through these services, the ARM Institute team, augmented by our member consortium, help manufacturers get the most of a robotics investment – all without requiring an installation commitment or the pressure to purchase a system.

These services can include the following, among others that address your personal needs:

  • Automation & Workforce Assessments: The ARM Institute will evaluate your current operations and identify areas that are ripe for automation. We also evaluate your workforce and help you understand what the actions needed to prepare your workers to work alongside robotics and automation.
  • Prototyping Services: The ARM Institute can help you develop and test solutions, acting as a neutral partner rather than one trying to make a sale.
  • Connections to Industry Solutions: The ARM Member Consortium is the largest robotics and AI consortium dedicated to strengthening US manufacturing. We can connect you to solutions and partners that fit your exact needs and you may have otherwise missed in the market place.
